Professor Andoh is currently the Group Technical Director for Hydro International plc. His responsibilities include market and product development, research, technical support, technology transfer and training of licensees. He has been responsible for the consolidation of the Group’s products and facilitating their market positioning.
Bob Andoh completed his doctorial research on systems identification and mathematical modelling at Imperial College, London in 1986. Prior to joining Hydro in 1992, he worked for consulting engineering firms engaged in design, evaluation and modelling of water distribution and sewerage networks, sewage treatment processes and in the development of river catchment management plans. His international experience includes projects in United Kingdom, Thailand, Hong Kong, Australia, Japan and United States of America. Bob is also a Visiting Professor at Liverpool John Moores University and an invited lecturer for specialist post-graduate courses including the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) post-graduate diploma at Bristol University; and MSc programmes at Cranfield, Sheffield and Portsmouth Universities in UK. He has successfully supervised a number of PhDs and has been invited as an external PhD examiner at Universities in the UK and Australia.
He is a member of the International Association for Water Quality and has served on the Steering Committee for the UK Construction Industry Research and Information Association (CIRIA) project on Low Cost Options for the Prevention of Flooding from sewers. He is a member of various other committees and advisory bodies including the Peer Review College for the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the Trade Partners / Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Water Sector Advisory Group (WSAG) in the UK. Bob Chaired the WSAG Skills and Innovation Task Group.
Bob has authored and presented over 50 technical papers relating to urban water management and systems. In 1998 he won a SMART award for innovation given by the UK Government Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), to assist in the development and bringing to market, a novel non-powered self-cleansing fine mesh screening system. The product has subsequently been awarded the coveted millennium product status. Bob is also a named inventor on several patents. Professor Andoh has been named as the ‘Outstanding Individual’ in the water and waste treatment sector by the judging panel for the 2003 IWEX Innovation Awards. He is married to Janet and they have a nine-year-old daughter, Bobbiella. Bob is an avid reader, enjoys philosophical discussions and plays the guitar. |
