The major concerns that pose a threat to the environment by humans have taken a different turn now.
Scientists throughout Europe and the United States have found the occurrences of drugs in water bodies such as rivers, lakes, and coastal waters.
So far, there is no evidence of adverse human health effects due to traces of pharmaceuticals in water. However, research has linked certain pharmaceuticals with disturbing ecosystem changes.
Aidan Millerick, managing director of Micro Drainage, in a report discussed the central requirement of risk assessment, and described a new analysis and modelling module as a challenge to engineers.
