Title Anaerobic Treatment of Textile Wastewater
Author Henri Spanjers
Company Lettinga Associates Foundation [LeAF]
Synopsis
This paper briefly describes an application of anaerobic technology in the treatment of textile wastewater. Generally, textile wastewater is difficult to treat in activated sludge plants due to a high organic load and the presence of dyes. Anaerobic treatment can be a solution for both problems. It has a low sludge production compared to aerobic systems, the capacity to decolourise the wastewater, and it can handle high organic loads.

Editorial

"To understand water is to understand the cosmos, the marvels of nature, and life itself.” So it’s better to protect and preserve water while we have it. But modernization has created a brutal imbalance between the realms of nature, one of its major repercussions being the never ending problem of water shortage.

Skywater-300 helps Australians cope with the water shortage crisis. It adopts a simple technology of using a fan to draw in the surrounding air and turning it into liquid with the help of a refrigerator coil.

In the coming years, global warming will be accompanied by severe storms. The combination will reduce the effectiveness of sewer improvements and water treatment upgrades.

The bottled water industry is expecting the birth of “Equa”, a premium brand of water, which is to be sold in upscale restaurants and trendy food stores like whole foods markets.
