Title Water and Power Cogeneration with Desalination
Author Mr. Ron S. Faibish
Company Argonne National Laboratory
Synopsis
In recent years the realization that water shortages in arid and semi-arid coastal regions around the world can be alleviated by co-location of desalination plants with power plants has gained momentum [1-4]. Indeed, about 95% of the total potable water production capacity in the MENA countries is produced via cogeneration.

Editorial

Schwarzenegger has taken interest in curbing acute water shortage that has been affecting California for a while now. Californians were asked to set aside all their prejudices and work towards an effective water storage system.

As an initiative to reduce water shortage, ACWA recommends long beach for its record of local resource development in stretching water supplies, recycling, and groundwater and water use efficiency.

Accusonic® Technologies introduces Model 7700-7720™,  the only flowmeter system with 18-Path flow measurement capability. It is by far the largest integrated real-time flowmeter network system available with transit-time technology for hydroelectric and fossil power plant applications.

A report has been unleashed by the WHO recommending point-of-use water treatment technology as an important tool in combating waterborne diseases. H2O innovations and S.M. Group International Inc. have joined hands in offering turn-key water desalination plants in Algeria. This venture presents a vertically integrated team offering analysis, design, manufacture, construction, and operation services.
