Title Cleaner Water with Centrifugal Force
Author Martine Ménard
Company Sonitec, Inc.
Synopsis
For many process cooling applications, clean water is crucial. Centrifugal sand filters can achieve fine filtration at a high rate, using significantly less water for backwashing compared to traditional sand filters. They also allow for a substantial reduction in the amount of water treatment chemicals used. With this technology, companies can ensure clean, clear cooling water, along with an efficient, high-quality, low-maintenance process.

Editorial

There has been an explosion of sales in bottled water, and according to the Beverage Marketing Corporation, bottled water consumption in the U.S. has surpassed that of milk, coffee, and beer.

In other parts of the world, there is a notable increase in bottled water consumption. Reports by research company BMI shows that the South African bottled-water market has followed a consistent annual growth trend in excess of 20% since 2001.

On the health front, a reaction to the general increase in consumption is that a bill has been introduced in the Washington State Legislature to ban the use of “petroleum-based water bottles.”
