Toray Membrane Europe offers multiple products and services in the field of Reverse Osmosis Membrane Technology. Toray expands its global strategic marketing and sales activities of water treatment products through Toray Membrane Europe AG - Witzerland, Toray Membrane America, Inc. - USA, and Toray Industries, Inc. – Japan.

In 1978, Mr. Klaus Kallenberg (co-founder of Ropur AG) had first contact with Toray, followed by first sales of Toray RO elements outside Japan. In 1983, the Swiss/Japanese joint venture has been established between Ropur AG, Mr. Kallenberg, Toray Japan and Mitsui & Co., Ltd Japan. This new partnership was formed to promote Ropur AG as the exclusive sales, marketing and technical support centre for Toray Reverse Osmosis Membranes within Europe, Middle-East and Africa Region. Since then the company has continuously served its customers in the field of membrane technology. In 2000, the successful partnership was strengthened when Toray has joined as shareholder of Ropur AG. In March 2003, Toray acquired the majority share of Ropur. Toray holds 60%, local management 30%, Mitsui Bussan Plant & Project Corporation (Japan) 10%. New President is Mr. Yoshio Ozaki, who succeeds Mr. Klaus Kallenberg, now Executive Vice President. In January 2004 Ropur AG has been renamed to Toray Membrane Europe AG.
