RESOLVE MARINE GROUP

Salvage and Wreck Removal
Marine Towing and Salavage
Marine Firefighting & Hazmat Response & Training

Salvage & Wreck Removal, Marine Towing & Salvage, and Marine Firefighting & Hazmat Response & Training

Resolve Marine Services Inc. dates back to 1980, when Joseph E. Farrell, Jr. founded one of the most effective salvage companies in the Americas. Focusing our efforts on the upper Caribbean Islands, Resolve successfully tackled scores of challenging salvage and wreck removal operations, including four deep-draft vessels which ran aground off the Jamaican coast. An unblemished success in the Caribbean forged a path of rapid growth and by 1990, an impressive record and solid reputation had been developed.

Marine Firefighting, HAZMAT Response and Training

The Resolve Fire & Hazard Inc. (RFHR) training center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida provides the marine industry and professional emergency service personnel worldwide with the best marine firefighting and marine safety training available today.

Training includes multiple evolutions with hand held extinguishers, flammable liquids spill simulator (flange fire and open pit), foam application, de-watering, engine room fires, and a full scenario incorporating a multi-hoseline interior compartment fire attack, search & rescue operations, ventilation and student fire ground command responsibilities.

Wreck Removal

Wreck removals are projects where a vessel or object must be removed because it is an obstruction in a channel, harbor or a coastal zone where it can be a hazard to navigation or a source of pollution. Resolve is tasked in a wide variety of different challenges during these operations.

Wreck removal projects can come with other important tasks attached. One such operation was the recovery and removal of a commercial airliner that crashed in the Florida Everglades. This project entailed the recovery of the aircraft and its components in order to assist the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in identifying the cause of the fire aboard and subsequent crash. Additionally, we have also moved historic vessels that were blocking channels to other locations while maintaining the archeological significance and respect that these historical treasures require. Resolve has completed with exceptional results these projects by our team members in a safe and expedient manner.

Environmental & Artificial Reefs

Artificial reefs are a major benefit to governments that want to enhance marine habitats. Resolve is a leader in the construction and development of artificial reef sites along the East and Gulf coasts of the United States as well as the Caribbean. We have prepared and scuttled more ships for artificial reefs than any other company in the United States. Our most notable project in this area was the preparation, towing and sinking of the first vessel in the Navy’s Inactive Ship Program and the first U.S. Aircraft Carrier (ex-Oriskany CV-34) to be sunk as an artificial reef. The ex-Oriskany was scuttled off the coast of Pensacola, Florida in May 2006 and was the subject of a special documentary aired on the Discovery Channel.

Resolve’s current artificial reef project is the preparation and scuttling of the Texas Clipper which previously served as a training vessel for Texas A&M University. In addition to scuttling the vessel, Resolve will affix artificial reef modules to the main deck of the vessel and will transplant live coral to these modules to further enhance this new underwater habitat. Other vessels prepared and scuttled by Resolve range from small tugs to ocean-going cargo vessels.

As the world's premier marine safety training facility, the Resolve Fire & Hazard Inc. Training Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida provides the marine industry and professional emergency service personnel worldwide with the best marine firefighting & marine safety training available today.

At the heart of the vessel, is the T.V .Grey Manatee, a revolutionary 140' LOA shipboard firefighting simulator designed by the engineering staff of the Resolve Marine Group for Marine firefighting training. The Grey Manatee is fully compartmentalized with over 20 separate compartments, connected to both horizontal & vertical passageways. Additionally, the multiple watertight doors and hatches, an engine room complete with a marine power plant, galley, catwalks, and other design features provide the student with a challenging and realistic training environment.

The internationally approved Shipboard and Marine Firefighting training facility (approvals include the USCG, NMD, and the MCA) has 6 purpose built fire simulators onboard, and features the world famous "Swedish Flashover Simulator", installed in cooperation with the Swedish Maritime Fire Protection Committee. This one of a kind simulator allows students to observe the development of fire through it various stages, cumulating in experiencing a true flashover! This is an experience few individuals except professional firefighters ever have the opportunity to witness.

Training includes multiple evolutions with hand held extinguishers, flammable liquids spill simulator (flange fire and open pit), foam application, de-watering, engine room fires, and a full scenario incorporating a multi-hoseline interior compartment fire attack, search & rescue operations, ventilation and student fire ground command responsibilities.

In addition to providing training to mariners worldwide, Resolve also uses the facility to maintain the readiness of its Marine Firefighting and Emergency Response Strike Team. The team is responsible for responding to emergencies aboard oil and chemical tankers. The team is comprised of professional hazardous materials technicians, fire fighters, salvage divers, and engineers. Currently the team is responsible for providing fire fighting and hazardous material response to over 5,000 ships.

Through the training sessions of the team and our response to shipboardand Marine Fires or other Emergencies, we are constantly developing new marine firefighting techniques as changes in technology and ships construction dictate. These leading edge developments are then passed on to marine professionals through our internationally approved programs, or customized training for cruise ships, tankers, cargo vessels, yachts and others.

Since its inception, RFHR has grown into a world-renowned center that is training over 3,000 mariners per year. We are a Det Norske Veritas Certified Marine Training Center utilizing the ISO-9000 guidelines. All of our programs are administered through a rigorous "Total Quality Management" program. Each staff member undergoes a thorough training and indoctrination program and a Professional Qualification System that is in place at RFH. We are the only center outside of Europe approved by the Norwegian Maritime Directorate, and the United Kingdom Maritime and Coast Guard Agency.
