The Texas Water Resources Institute, a unit of the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station and Texas Cooperative Extension, is part of a national network of water resources research institutes created by the Water Resources Research Act of 1964. The Institute serves as a focal point for water-related research at Texas universities, encouraging discussion of statewide issues through meetings and multi-university studies. The Institute links academic expertise with state and federal agencies, strengthening water research and education. Additionally, the Institute provides leadership for water resources programs through grant administration, pre-award services, project management, communications and facilitation of interagency collaboration.
