ORI Series of Automatic Self-Cleaning Water Filters and ORE Series of Motorized Self-Cleaning Water Filters for Irrigational Applications

ORI Series - Automatic Self-Cleaning Water Filters

Automatic, self-cleaning, line pressure powered water filter, designed specifically for the irrigation industry. Orival's ORI model filters are available in sizes from 1/2'' through 20'' and in stainless steel construction, single units can handle flow rates up to 12,000 gpm. These units can be installed in parallel to handle larger flow rates. Fine screens are available down to 1500 mesh in a variety of constructions, including standard stainless steel mesh, multi-layer sintered stainless steel and wedgewire. Available configurations include in-line, on-line and on-line with automatic built-in by-pass.

Standard Features:

  • Line pressure powered, no external power required
  • Electrical, battery and solar operated controls
  • Automatic self cleaning with no interruption of flow
  • Single units with 2''-20'' flanges, handle flow rates up to 8,100 gpm
  • Pressures to 150 psig, 30 psig minimum inlet pressure
  • Operates in any position, even upside down

Optional Features:

  • High pressure or low pressure units
  • Stainless steel construction
  • High performance fine screens provide double screen area for special applications
  • Single units for flow rates up to 15,000 gpm
  • Hydraulic controls
  • Fine screens down to 5 microns
    Semi-automatic units
  • Complete manifold systems for unlimited flow rates

Working of the ORI Series of Water Filters

The unit consists of two stages of filtration, a coarse pre-filter and a stainless steel fine screen.

Dirty water enters the inlet, passes through the coarse screen and into the center of the fine screen. The water then passes through the fine screen from the inside out and exits the outlet.

The unwanted solids accumulate on the inner surface of the fine screen, creating a pressure differential. Once the pressure drop reaches a preset level, a rinse cycle is activated by the factory supplied control system by opening the rinse valve to an atmospheric drain.

As a result, pressure drops in the hydraulic motor chamber and dirt collector assembly. The pressure drop creates a backflush stream, which sucks the dirt off the screen, similar to a vacuum cleaner. The backwash water is carried through the collector and ejected out of the holes in the hydraulic motor.

The water being ejected out of the hydraulic motor causes the collector to rotate, allowing the entire screen to be cleaned each cycle.

Models with screen areas of 237 sq in or greater include a hydraulic piston, which is used to control the longitudinal movement of the collector. During the rinse cycle, the piston prevents the collector from traversing through its stroke too quickly; ensuring that the entire screen area is swept by the nozzles. Following the rinse cycle, the piston returns the collector to the top of its stroke in preparation for the next rinse cycle.

ORE Series - Motorized Self-Cleaning Water Filters for Irrigational Applications

Automatic, self-cleaning, motorized water filter. Orival's ORE model filters are available in sizes from 2'' to 24'', single units can handle flow rates up to 9,000 gpm. These units can be installed in parallel to handle larger flow rates. Fine screens are available down to 1500 mesh in multi-layer sintered stainless steel or wedgewire.

The ORE series of water filters are designed to handle high dirt loads and/or sticky or difficult to remove particulates.  The dirt collection rotation and movement are via an electric motor with a screw drive mechanism.  The filter is equipped with a factory programmed and tested control system to ensure precise control of the filter rinse cycle.

Technical Specifications for the ORE Series

  • Maximum working pressure: 150 psig (high pressure units available upon request)
  • Maximum fluid temperature: 150°F (high temperature units available upon request)
  • Standard housing constructed of carbon steel, coated with extra durable polyester, electrostatically applied and oven cured on a zinc phosphate layer. Alternate materials of construction or special coatings available on request
  • ASME units available - with or without ''U'' stamp
  • Units can be manifolded together to handle unlimited flow rates -- see our Flange-to-Flange Solutions for details

Working of the ORE Series of Water Filters

The unit consists of two stages of filtration, a coarse pre-filter and a stainless steel fine screen.

Dirty water enters the inlet, passes through the coarse screen and into the center of the fine screen. The water then passes through the fine screen from the inside out and exits the outlet.

The backwash water is carried through the collector and ejected out of the holes in the base of the collector.

At the same time, the drive assembly controls the movement of the collector assembly, ensuring that the collector nozzles sweep the entire screen area in a helical fashion, and returning the collector to its original position in preparation for the next cycle.
