ODOTECH’s mission is to fully develop and implement the technologies, expertise and know-how originated by École Polytechnique in the field of odors and atmospheric pollution.
Main Products
ODOWATCH
OdoWatch™ merges the weather data with the odor data in order to display on the screen the odor plume superimposed on the aerial map of the site and its surroundings. The operator thus sees at a glance the effect of "his" odors on the neighborhood. When using meteorological forecast data, OdoWatch™ can also predict the odor impact up to 24 hours ahead. This enables the operator to take the steps required to reduce the odor in order to prevent the nuisance from occurring.
Features
- Distinguish the odors generated by the site from those originating elsewhere
- Continuously archive the results for later reference in case of complaints by neighbors
- Identify the most troublesome odor sources
- Issue alerts when preset thresholds are exceeded
- Lead to quick action in the event of operating incidents
Network
An OdoWatch™ network comprises electronic noses (e-noses), a weather tower, and a Central Control Unit.
Each e-nose contains a matrix of sensors optimized for the odors of the site. They sample the air 24 hours a day, and transmit the results to the Central Control Unit where the OdoWatch™ software merges them with the meteorological data in order to model the atmospheric dispersion of odors.
TROPOS
Tropos Impact© 7.2 is latest-generation software for modeling and display of the atmospheric dispersion of odors.
Tropos Impact© 7.2 is a 5-model atmospheric odor dispersion modeling software product designed specifically for ODOR dispersion. To that end, it includes the Gifford-Gaussian model designed by ODOTECH for a close-to-actual simulation of odor dispersion in the atmosphere.
Tropos Impact© 7.2 is used in assessing the environmental impact of atmospheric odor pollution emissions. For instance, it can be used:
- Identify chemical compounds responsible for odor nuisance at impingement points
- Evaluate the impact of industrial establishments
- Evaluate abatement criteria at the source
- Manage industrial operations under different weather conditions
- Design stacks
- Identify critical sources for reducing pollutant emissions
- Determine taxation criteria
Users of Tropos
- Municipalities: waste disposal site management
- Government Ministries/Agencies/Laboratories
- Industrial firms
- Pulp and paper: management of kraft paper plants and sludge disposal
- Hydrocarbon plants (styrolene)
- Pork producers: pig manure spreading
- Major livestock farming operations
- Industrial associations
- Environmental consulting engineers and services
ODILE
The Dynamic Dilution Olfactometer quantifies odors using a panel. Its various electronic components fill several functions: presentation of dilutions to the panel, continuous analysis of the results and optimization of the preparation sequence of dilutions of the gas samples.
Thanks to its multiple functionalities, ODILE™ is the only instrument that quantifies odors using four different complementary techniques:
- Odor concentration and odor threshold determination
- Odor suprathreshold determination with comparison to a reference gas
- Hedonic scale assessment to determine the degree of appreciation
- Evaluation of the relative intensity of odors
ODILE
System
ODILE™ is composed of several units: dilution unit, operating system software, odor station, air purification system and pressurized vessel.
POLAIR
PolAir© 4.2 is latest-generation atmospheric dispersion modeling and display software.
