Zheng Yi Wu, Ph.D, is an advisory software architect, specializing in areas of engineering computing applications and software development for water and wastewater systems, with more than 15 years of experience in research, development, and engineering consulting around the world including China, Denmark, the Netherlands, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and United States. He pioneered genetic algorithm applications for hydrological and hydrodynamic systems at Danish Hydraulics Institute in early 1990’s, developed the first off-the-shelf GA-based optimization software of water distribution model calibration, system design and pump scheduling for Montgomery Watson. With the support of Haestad Methods, he has developed the multi-objective genetic algorithm optimization modeling tools (see at www.haestad.com/darwin), in addition to many other innovative geospatial and hydraulic analysis models. At Bentley Systems, he is responsible for product research and development, and also provides expert guidance to world wide technical support of computer modeling technology for water and wastewater systems.
