Superior Quality Water Products Since 1857
Mueller Co. has a long history of trust and leadership in the American flow control industry spanning more than a Century. Mueller Co. is the largest full-line supplier of flow control products used in distribution systems for municipal potable water and natural gas, and is ISO certified. The Hersey Meters Division of Mueller Co., with an equally long history of acceptance and also ISO certified, manufactures water meters, automatic meter reading (AMR) systems, and backflow prevention devices used by the water distribution, fire sprinkler, plumbing and industrial process industries. Mueller`s Henry Pratt Valve Subsidiary is the largest supplier of valves for the water distribution, water treatment, nuclear, fire protection, and power generation markets. Pratt® valves are installed in water treatment plants, water distribution systems, power plants and industrial facilities worldwide. Mueller® History, the Past as PrologueA RECORD OF LEADERSHIP & INNOVATION . . .Mueller Co. was founded in Decatur, Illinois in 1857 by Hieronymus Mueller, a German immigrant who had a passion for craftsmanship and a desire to search out ``the better way`` to do virtually everything he put he hands to. He built his business on the premise that his company should never manufacture a product to which he could not be proud to apply the Mueller name. This remains a hallmark of today`s Mueller Co. The first Mueller products were handmade guns of exceptional workmanship and quality. Later, with the company`s development and patenting of the drilling & tapping machine and threaded corporation valve, the Company`s focus turned to brass and iron products for the distribution of potable water, as well as for gas used for domestic cooking and heating. These early products made it possible to install a water or gas service pipe to a pressurized main under full system pressure, without the water or gas escaping. Other early innovations included the invention of the pressure regulator valve, which also provided the basis for large specialty valves installed to protect the lock gates of the Panama Canal. Mueller introduced copper plumbing to households in the early 1920`s. This was a time when the Mueller name could also be found on china lavatories, faucets, and even packaged plumbing systems. These early systems fed pressurized water throughout a home with a periodic recharge of water from the hand operated pump in the yard. In the intervening years, many innovative Mueller products have been adopted as standards by both the water and gas industries, and are now the products on which many other manufacturers pattern their own. Both the water and gas product lines have grown to be the broadest selections offered by any one manufacturer, filling two catalogs of almost 500 pages each - making Mueller Co. the only single-source supplier in the water and gas distribution industries. Mueller continues to be known for thoughtfully designed, well manufactured products backed before and long after the sale by knowledgeable, professional people. Today, as in the past, the Mueller name is associated with the finest products available, which are models for quality and dependability. THE MUELLER PRODUCT Is thoughtfully designed to make application and installation as easy and error-free as possible. Includes features intended to enhance maintainability and help assure that the full service life of the product is attained. Is backed by the Mueller engineering, manufacturing, sales training, and customer service staff to promote the purchaser`s satisfaction before and after the sale. Benefits the purchaser with value that goes beyond the purchase price.

AquaGrip™ System
AQUAGRIP™ SYSTEM The AquaGrip™ System-an innovative compression connection with integral restraint. Easy to install without special tools or skills. Accepts ductile iron, PVC or PE water pipe without disassembly, modification for changing any parts. Stab in pipe end and tighten bolts until special nuts snap away, a visual indication the connection is leak tight and fully restrained. This Mueller® exclusive helps to reduce labor and inventory costs. Available as an option on Mueller Centurion® Fire Hydrants and Resilient Wedge Valves. When you say yes to this unique, new technology, you can say no to many of the costly and time consuming aspects of ordinary ``add-on`` style restraints when installing compression-type connections. The AquaGrip Connection includes both the compression connection and the restraint system in one convenient, quick installation package. This eliminates the need for tie rods, anchor couplings or separate gland-type restraints. SAY NO TO OUTDATED METHODS No disassembly required. AquaGrip™ is a stab-fit system. No special tools or torquing required. Simply tighten the bolts with an ordinary wrench until the top half of the nut breaks away. A plastic washer on the nut assures that the wrench engages the nut properly. No dual inventory of components to accommodate ductile iron, PVC or polyethylene. AquaGrip fittings are used with all three types of pipe. No liner required for polyethylene pipe (up to and including DR17). No pipe end preparation. Works with plain end pipe. No special field conditions required for installation. The AquaGrip System can be installed in wet conditions, even under water. No point loading of pipe. The AquaGrip gripper ring provides contact around the entire pipe circumference to provide uniform restraint against pipe pullout. Applications Ductile iron (all hydrants, valves, couplings and adapters except 3`` coupling and adapters, which are currently for PE and PVC only) C900 PVC pipe DR 18 and 14 Polyethylene pipe SDR17, 13.5, 11, 9 and 7 (without a support liner) Designed to meet the performance requirements of ASTM F1674, WIS 4-24-01 Type 2 and ISO 14236.2. Maximum working pressure up to 250 psig. Click here to view a video presentation.
