The Easy Locator
The Easy Locator is the standard Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) system for utility locate professionals worldwide.
Easy Locator is priced well below other systems and virtually redefines GPR for everyday locators that need to find non-metallic utilities and perform surveys for unknown buried objects and utilities. The system includes an easy user interface with almost complete automation of settings whereby the operator provides minimal input to begin collecting data. Portability is unmatched in both weight and ease of disassembly for transport between projects.
These all important features mirror those locate professionals are accustomed to using on standard pipe and cable locators.
The Easy Locator includes an integrated but modular control unit and monitor. The control unit is mounted directly to the antenna (transducer) of your choice and powered internally. It is compatible with two antennas "Mid" or "Shallow" to cover most utility locate situations.
The detachable control unit automatically detects the selected antenna and defaults to the appropriate data collection settings. Simply remove the handles with the monitor attached and collect data with either antenna.
Adjustable height of the wheels in combination with the option to pull the Easy Locator backwards improves access to rough terrain and loose soils such as sand.
The Basic System of the Easy Locator includes:
- Control unit
- Mid antenna (transducer) or Shallow antenna (transducer)
- High brightness color Monitor
- Optional trans-reflective screen for maximum performance in strong sunlight
- Easy to use Software Interface
- Parallel data cable
- Lithium-Ion Battery
- Battery charger
- Operator's manual
The Basic System can be used either with the "Shallow" or the "Mid" antenna (transducer) for different target objects. The basic system is upgradeable to include the IXM feature for either the EXM or EXM+ allowing screen capture of data images for export to a PC as .jpg format for printing or archiving of critical data.
Antennas
Two rugged shielded antennas are available for the Easy Locator. The choice of frequency depends upon both the depth of interest and the size of the utilities and targets to be detected. Use the Shallow antenna for targets as small as 3-cm in diameter and up to 2.5 meters deep and the Mid antenna for targets as small as 5-cm in diameter and up to 4.0 meters deep.
The Easy Locator's modular electronics and handle system may be used on either antenna allowing you to purchase one system with the capabilities of two.
Both antennas feature automatic detection when the control unit is swapped from one antenna to the other minimizing setting changes for the operator.
Available Accessories include:
- Single pack, Lithium-Ion Battery 13.2 Ah Provides 4-5 hours of continuous operation
- Battery charger
- Wear/Skid plate Replace when necessary. Average replacement frequency 1.5 to 2 years
- Operator's Manual
- Hard Shipping Case for a complete EASY LOCATOR Basic System
The Monitor and the User Interface
The Easy Locator Monitor as well as the operator interface is designed for efficiency and simplicity consistent with the needs of the utility locating industry.
The dedicated monitor for the Easy Locator is easy to navigate and easy to read. The standard EXM Monitor features a 10.4" TFT-LCD, high brightness color screen, providing high visibility for most outdoor use. The case is weather resistant (IP 67) and can withstand rain, snow, and dust.
Operation with a combined turn-push button to control the program flow is unmatched in the field in terms of simplicity. Pressing and turning the knob activates the various menus after they are highlighted.
For unmatched visibility in bright sun the EXM Monitor may be upgraded to the EXM+ which includes a trans-reflective screen.
Other upgrades include the IXM feature for either the EXM or EXM+ allowing screen capture of data images for export to a PC as .jpg format for printing or archiving of critical data. For those that already purchased an Easy Locator the upgrade may be added later by our factory trained representatives.
The operator interface requires minimal input for data collection and almost complete automation of settings necessitating minimal input to begin collecting data. It enables acquisition and filtering of the data, together with visualization of previously measured profiles. The Interface operates in real time, in a similar fashion to radio frequency locators, in that it is quick to set up and that areas may be scanned rapidly and utilities marked without data storage.
A backup cursor function makes marking identified targets depicted on the screen a snap. Simply backing up the Easy Locator to the identified utility depicted on the monitor causes a cursor to appear that you then center over the target. The utility is then marked on the ground with marking paint adjacent to the arrows on the transducer housing. Repeating the process on a series of profiles is all that is required for a successful locate.
