An analysis of inspection data has shown that of all sewers examined, only 6% on the average were found to be damaged in a typical 1-mile long sample. This translates into only six feet out of every one hundred feet of un-reinforced sewer pipe.
Next to digging, the popular technology for sewer rehabilitation has been relining. This has meant that for every one hundred feet of liner at least 94 feet of sound pipe has been relined where only six feet really needed repair.
