About Us
Link-Pipe Inc. develops No-Dig repair products to extend the service life of city sewers to full originally intended use. LINK-PIPE Inc. continues to develop reliable and innovative technologies for repair of underground infrastructure systems including industrial, steam and gas supply applications. Link-Pipe Inc. offers only products designed according to modern engineering and material sciences. History After 20 years working as a municipal engineer, Lembit Maimets founded LINK-PIPE Inc. in 1980. By 1980 re-lining method of pipe repair was already widely used. By that time it had already become known that most un-reinforced sewer pipes were only locally damaged except those that were chemically eroded. Maimets had found that the damage in most un-reinforced pipes did not exceed 6% of the pipe length if the sample exceeded 1-mile (1.5km). By re-lining pipe most of which was perfectly preserved was costly and overloaded the budgets. By repairing only those parts of pipe that were damaged Maimets estimated that more than 50% of money could be saved and used elsewhere where it was more useful. Based on this observation, Maimets designed the first Spot Repair sleeve and called it LINK-PIPE™. Patents Maimets registered the first patent of Link-Pipe spot repair sleeve in the United States in 1978 and sales began in 1980. This event established Link-Pipe as the first commercially available spot repair technology in the world. Subsequent patents have been obtained for the repair sleeves known as SNAP-LOCK (October 31, 1988), followed by GROUTING SLEEVE, GasSealer, etc.By the end of 2002, 42 patents have been issued or applied for by Maimets and licensed to Link-Pipe Inc. or its affiliated companies. As Link-Pipe is dedicated to deliver to the public quality products, it was felt that the quality control in the design and manufacturing of those products should undergo some independent and impartial third party scrutiny. Therefore an application was made seeking certification from International Standards Organization, ISO. Through ISO certification Link-Pipe has submitted all its design, manufacturing and customer feedback processes to an independent scrutiny by an ISO appointed review agency, ITS. Applications Link-Pipe pipe repair system involves covering the damaged area with an internally applied prefabricated stainless steel sleeve. Sewer Repair Systems
Link-Pipe offers Municipalities a new economic way to provide an improved level of service when maintaining their sewer systems. The savings offered are based on switching from replacement and re-lining of the entire pipe to repair of only the damage by Spot Repair. For this Link-Pipe offers factory made high quality stainless steel and PVC sleeves. The sleeves are easy to install, need very little equipment. An analysis of inspection data has shown that of all sewers examined, only 6% on the average were found to be damaged in a typical 1-mile long sample. This translates into only six feet out of every one hundred feet of un-reinforced sewer pipe. Next to digging, the popular technology for sewer rehabilitation has been relining. This has meant that for every one hundred feet of liner at least 94 feet of sound pipe has been relined where only six feet really needed repair. If during routine inspection damaged pipe is discovered it takes around twenty minutes to have it repaired if Link-Pipe GROUTING SLEEVE™, or SewerSealer™ in shipping cartons are kept on the CCTV truck. Link-Pipe Inc. can supply highly reliable products, installation staff training and trouble shooting assistance for those first time difficult jobs. Insta-Liner - Pipe Relining
Link-Pipe Insta-Liner™ forms a composite structure with the damaged, or eroded host pipe and creates a new pipe even where the old pipe is missing. The new composite pipe combines the strength of the new liner with sections and pieces of the host pipe, all bonded together with a cementitious grout. Link-Pipe Insta-Liner™ can be ordered with a 50-year, 100-year, or any custom designed service life. In all cases, a 10-Year Manufacturer Limited Warranty applies for all materials. Application Link-Pipe Insta-Liner™ is made up of short links of stainless steel sleeves, which are coupled together to create a continuous liner of a specified length. Individual links are coupled together and are pulled through the host pipe by a cable from the opening at the far end of the host pipe. A continuous stainless steel liner is thus formed. A specially formulated cement grout is then pumped to fill the annular space between the host pipe and the Insta-Liner™.The grout flows into all cracks and joints, joining together the Insta-Liner™ and all old pipe sections into a solid and unified structure. The SST-316 Insta-Liner™ is selected for the purpose of providing a repair that lasts at least 100 years in a city culvert, sanitary and storm sewer environment. Benefits of Link-Pipe Insta-Liner™ Method No excavation No traffic holdups No damage to Utilities No expensive installation equipment needed Only one crew of three persons is needed to perform the repair Repair Segment Installation requires very short setup and installation time 100-year long service life 10-Year Limited Manufacturer Warranty Link-Pipe Insta-Liner™ has the following specific benefits: Technical staff offers a one-day training seminar from Link-Pipe Inc. Just three persons can do the job. Additional labor would increase the productivity. The equipment needed is very simple and readily available.- A winch with ¼-inch cable and capacity to pull with a force equal to half the weight of the SST core of the Insta-Liner™.- A grout pump available from many tool rentals and also Link-Pipe Inc., - 1-¼-inch Grout hoses of required length,- Set-up involves coupling the links and passing them into the host pipe. The coupled segments are pulled through the host pipe, forming a new liner. A 30-meter (100-ft.) length culvert can be re-lined in less than one hour. - The liner is also suitable for short repairs. Coupled with expandable Spot Repair Sleeves, e.g. GROUTING-SLEEVE™. This lowers the cost of short repairs by avoiding pipe sections that need no repair. CCTV for inspection before and after work Vac-Truck for cleaning before re-lining The new pipe has the strength of the original sound host pipe and much more. Under 10-psi grouting pressure, the annular space and all host pipe cracks are filled by the cement grout. The LINKcRETE Grout has enhanced adhesion properties, due to Link-Pipe proprietary additives. The cracked or corroded host pipe pieces are bonded together. Furthermore, should there be any cavities in the soil around the host pipe, the grout flows out to fill all accessible spaces. The end result is a very strong and sound new pipe.
