Pasadena, CA, In December 2004, MWH Labs completed installation of a state of art Waters Ultima LC-MS-MS to expand capabilities in the area of PPCP analysis. This $300K instrument will greatly enhance the capabilities of the laboratory in this area.
This class of compounds, many of which are potential endocrine disruptors, are important emerging contaminants.
Prior to this nearly all PPCP analysis has been done by University laboratories equipped with the necessary equipment. There are as yet no standardized analytical methods for most of these compounds, and levels of interest are in the part per trillion range.
Additionally the instrument can be used for low level perchlorate analysis using EPA Method 331.0, an LC-MS technique for determining perchlorate in a variety of matrices at concentrations as low as 50 ppt and for trace determinations of acrylamide, a WHO regulated analyte, also of interest to the FDA.
