Pilot Plants for Water Treatment
Pilot Data Services and Industrial Controls

Water Treatment Automation Systems such as Standard, Custom and Mobile Pilot Plants, Industrial Controls, and Pilot Data Services

Combining over 20 years of experience in the water treatment and controls industry, the owners formed Intuitech, Inc. in 1996 to provide water treatment system automation services.

As a result of the company`s involvement in the industry and the ever-increasing need to pilot treatment technologies, optimize water plant operations, and meet water quality requirements, the company has since evolved into a leading provider of water treatment pilot plants.

Due to growing demand we now sell common pilot plant component parts for the do-it-yourself pilot study engineer. These are the same components we utilize in our complete turnkey systems and include parts for coagulant rapid mixing, low-energy flocculation, lamella plate settling, chemical dosing, granular media filtration, GAC contacting, and ozone contacting.

If you select one of our turnkey systems you can expect a user-friendly touch screen human machine interface (HMI) for monitoring, controlling, and collecting data from the pilot plant. The HMI is Internet ready for you to securely "browse" your pilot plant, download data, receive email notifications, and serves as an integral part of our pilot study data services.

As a leading provider of water treatment pilot plants, Intuitech will continue to provide innovative water pilot plant solutions with highly functional controls for existing and future clients.

Standard Granular Media Filtration Pilot Plants

The concept of modeling full-scale water treatment processes by using pilot-scale equipment manufactured by Intuitech, provides consulting engineers and end-users with a powerful method for analyzing the treatment of water.

Pilot studies that use pilot-scale equipment can accomplish the following objectives:

  • Comparison of different conventional water treatment technologies for new plant construction or existing plant expansion
  • Comparison of alternative water treatment technologies (those processes that are not currently approved by the NSF without a pilot study)
  • Compliance with international, national, and local regulatory agencies
  • Optimization of existing water treatment processes.
  • Flexible and safe experimentation without the worry of potentially hazardous effluent water quality going to the public
  • Plant operator training and public education
  • Establishment of design criteria with confidence, thus ensuring the best technical and economic choice

Pilot equipment manufactured by Intuitech is designed, fabricated, and serviced to empower water treatment decision-makers with the tools necessary to accomplish the above objectives.

Standard Pilot Plants

Standard pilot plants are the best economic choice for pilot applications that require conventional filtration methods or ozonation, due to minimal engineering and programming costs.

Standard pilots are available for the following treatment processes.

  • Coagulation
  • Flocculation
  • Sedimentation
  • Granular Media Filtration
  • Ozonation

Standard Coagulation, Flocculation, and Sedimentation Pilot Plants

Designed to meet the requirements of many conventional filtration pilot applications, this standard module combines a chamber for coagulant rapid mixing, windowed basins for flocculation, and a lamella plate settler.

Standard Granular Media Filtration Pilot Plants

Designed to meet the requirements of many conventional filtration pilot applications, this standard module can be used for granular media filtration (GMF) or granular activated carbon (GAC) contacting.

Standard Ozonation Pilot Plants

Designed to meet the requirements of many ozone pilot applications, this standard module can be used stand-alone or integrated into a process train with other filtration technologies.

Custom Pilot Plants

Custom pilot plants allow the client to provide a specification for design. This approach may result in a more expensive solution than a standard pilot but one that meets the clients unique requirements.

Custom pilots are available for the following treatment processes:

  • Coagulation
  • Flocculation
  • Clarification
  • Granular Media Filtration
  • Ozonation
  • Membrane Filtration
  • Miscellaneous Process

Custom Ozonation Pilot Plants

Designed to meet specific customer requirements, Intuitech`s custom ozonation pilots safely handle the somewhat problematic management of ozone gas.

Custom Membrane Filtration Pilot Plants

Intuitech constructs custom membrane filtration pilot plants for Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Ultra Filtration (UF).

Custom Reverse Osmosis (RO) Pilot Plants

Designed to meet specific customer requirements, Intuitech`s custom Reverse Osmosis pilots provide flexibility where "off the shelf" units prove restrictive. Reverse Osmosis pilots are often utilized for brackish and seawater desalination studies.

Custom Ultra Filtration Pilot Plants

Designed for various membranes, these custom Ultra Filtration (UF) pilot plant modules are fully automated for unmanned operation and have an impressive pilot study resume.

Custom Miscellaneous Process Pilot Plants

Intuitech constructs custom miscellaneous pilot plants for:

  • Dissolved Organic Carbon
  • Biological Filtration
  • Hazardous Vapor Recovery
  • Electrolytic Cell Treatment

Custom Electrolytic Cell Treatment Pilot Plant

Designed to meet our customers specific requirements, Intuitech`s custom electrolytic cell pilot provides a flexible approach for this unique treatment method. Silver plates are separated into four chambers with independent flow control for each chamber allowing flexible operation.

Mobile Pilot Plants

Mounting pilot plants within mobile trailers provides flexibility for clients that conduct pilot studies at different locations or operate multiple full-scale water treatment facilities.

The mobile trailers include:

  • Lab area for water quality experiments
  • Heating and air conditioning systems
  • External air compressor for noise reduction
  • External process connections
  • External power and communications connections
  • Utility room for storage of process maintenance items and replacement parts
  • Automatic ventilation systems

Pilot Data Services

One of the primary purposes of a water pilot plant or full-scale water plant SCADA system is to gather and present operational data. This data is used by water treatment decision makers for several purposes that might include:

  • Comparison and selection of treatment technologies
  • Evaluation of plant operations
  • Optimization of chemical dosing

There are numerous methods and products available for gathering and presenting this data. Many are overly complex and require excessive time for implementation and are cost prohibitive. Intuitech specializes in providing simple and cost effective data handling solutions.

For systems that require PC based monitoring and control Intuitech provides a rugged industrial PC with a proven track record. This fifth generation industrial PC the rDACV is one of the smallest and most powerful data acquisition tools available.

Access to data in a timely manner is also a key requirement for pilot studies or full-scale water plant SCADA. The data solutions we offer utilize the power of the internet for access to data.

Industrial Controls

Intuitech provides industrial control panels to numerous industrial clients in addition to panels for internal pilot plant use. Our high-volume panel shop produces hundreds of panels per year. As a result of our volume we have negotiated special OEM relationships and pricing with Allen-Bradley, Square D, Modicon, Telemecanique, Phoenix Contact, Hoffman, and others. These relationships allow us to be competitive while providing the highest quality components for control panels.

Expert tools are in place to assist our clients with design if required. All of our panel designs comply with the NEC and UL 508A (as required) and can be UL listed if requested. Hazardous locations are no problem. We understand the proper implementation of industrial enclosures and components in Class 1,2 Division 1,2 - A,B,C,D environments.

While specializing in control panels for the water, waste-water, and materials handling industries, we also build panels for many other industrial processes. The types of panels include PLC, MMI, motor control, pneumatic, power distribution, or a combination of these.
