Environmental Technology for Water and Wastewater Treatment

A company designed to provide the best available technology (B.A.T) known on the market today while also searching for new technologies that will do the job better. Environmental Compliance Equipment LLC is an authorized representative for RGF Environmental, CASTion Corporation, and many other water treatment companies.

Photo Catalytic Oxidation (PCO)

Photo catalytic Oxidation (PCO) occurs when humid air is exposed to specific photons of UV light. Oxidizers including hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl radicals are produced. This oxidizing air, when introduced into wastewater, oxidizes the organic matter, dramatically reducing BOD and destroying microbiological organisms. This photonic reaction has been perfected by Environmental Compliance Equipment. After oxidation, the water must be filtered to remove suspended solids.  Through the filtration process, the incoming water flows downward through the filter beds and encounters layers of filtration media with decreasing porosity.  Successively smaller particles are trapped in each layer, thus providing true depth filtration. By using photo catalytic oxidation technology coupled with multimedia filtration, large reductions in BOD, COD, Chemicals and TSS are achieved, enabling POU (Point Of Use) water is clean and clear.  Drinking water is a right for all people.

Drinking Water Systems

ECE provides drinking water systems through the introduction of activated oxygen into air or water. This has been used successfully in a wide variety of abatement applications from preventing algae growth in aquariums to drinking water to destruction of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in exhaust air in the aerospace industry.  Currently PCO technology system for potable water is being applied in various industries. Environmental Compliance maintains a state-of-the-art analytical lab, which will provide free water testing for as long as you own your Environmental Compliance system to assure continued performance. This assures our customers that, should your waste stream change, you will be able to make the appropriate modifications to meet your needs.

Environmental Compliance has been a leader in patented environmental technology.

 Photo Catalytic Oxidation

Environmental Compliance provides the thermo oxidizer evaporator. The thermo oxidizer evaporator is designed to completely evaporate liquid waste, leaving only a dry ash residue.  The evaporator Atomizes the liquid waste stream into a fine mist (click here to see video) injected into a heated dry chamber to flash evaporate the entire liquid portion of the stream.  By automatically controlling the combustion temperature, maximum efficiency is achieved. This results in fuel costs as low as $0.03 per gallon.

See how the Thermo Oxidizer Evaporator works.

Thermo Oxidizer Evaporator for Industrial Waste Water Disposal

Environmental Compliance utilizes a cast ceramic refractory for all combustion chamber surfaces to eliminate corrosion and metal failure. By utilizing the optional waste oil burner, the system can eliminate both waste oil and wastewater. Flash evaporation reduces the entire water and organic volume in a waste stream leaving only a dry residue to be removed.  No other evaporator can process industrial waste water more efficiently.  Get the best evaporator on the market right here from us. The thermo oxidizer evaporator is of various types, including:

Possibly the best way to reduce a waste stream is evaporation.  This is a simple process of heating the water to 212 degrees F and changing the physical state of the water portion of the waste stream, allowing the water to be removed.  There are many types of evaporators on the market today and all of them have one common issue, they all leave concentrated slurry to be hauled away.  Our flash evaporation process leaves only a dry residue.  This is accomplished by atomizing the waste stream into a fine mist in the presence of a natural gas or propane flame removing all of the liquid content of the waste stream.

Our flash evaporation process is very efficient through several process technologies.  Our systems use a PID loop to measure operating temperature and automatically increase or decrease fuel input to maintain operating temp.  Our systems capture the convected heat from the system and recycle it back into the process.

Waste streams are thoroughly tested to ensure application integrity.  We test for all RCRA metals plus nickel, some 33 VOC constituents, total organic compounds, halogenated hydrocarbons, pH, TSS and TDS.  All in the effort to reduce the potential of sending HAP`s into the atmosphere.  If these components are found in the stream we will apply our vast technology offerings to reduce the component as a pretreatment.  This ensures the system will operate to its peak performance.

Wastewater Evaporation

Environmental Compliance is also a provider of vacuum evaporation services and solutions. The controlled atmospheric separation technology (CAST) unit separates solid constituents from water in a flash distillation process generating potentially a re-useable product and distilled water.  Re-use the product and the distilled water back in the process and be 100% closed loop.

Vacuum Evaporation Water and Waste Treatment

The CASTion system is a vacuum assisted, binary flash distillation device designed to treat water and wastes of almost any volume and any chemical makeup. The CAST system processes the influent (contaminated water) and generates an effluent (clean water, and a concentrate) which may be recovered for water reuse/ recycle. The resulting effluent is typically able to achieve contaminant concentrations within process (rinsing) specification or within regulatory discharge limits. Use of CASTion`s system has been demonstrated successfully for on- site water reuse / recycle and off- site concentrate recycle/ reclaim. The system is specifically designed for the recovery of rinse waters and or selected chemical solutions from process operations used in metal finishing, electronics (including printed circuit board manufacturing and semiconductor module assembly processing), photochemical machining and other similar industrial operations. CAST utilizes various aspects of flash distillation and vacuum evaporation in conjunction with a patented vapor / liquid separation system. This combination of fundamental physical principles and patented components produce many of CAST`s competitive advantages.

The flash evaporation design allows CAST systems to use external, commercially available plate and frame heat exchangers, as opposed to the costly, custom built and maintenance intensive heat exchangers used in other systems. The spraying of the process solutions permits a unique feed arrangement. Material can be introduced above the liquid surface of the process solution and below the spray cone, which allows any dissolved or entrained gasses to be desiccated from the feed during introduction. Any foam formed during desiccation is collapsed by the sprayed process solution. This allows CAST systems to operate on process solutions that tend to foam in other types of evaporators. CAST systems use a proprietary method of developing the vacuum on the process vessel and removing the distillate from the system. The method allows distillate to be continuously discharged from the system without the use of the complicated or batch methodologies. This technique eliminates any fugitive discharges.

The vacuum used in CAST systems causes the water to evaporate at a much lower then normal temperature, typically 100- 140 EF. This facilitates the use of engineering plastics, thus greatly reducing the overall cost of manufacturing and customer installed cost. CAST systems are constructed from time tested quality components produced by leading industrial suppliers. The systems are constructed to be maintenance free and simple to service if required. CAST systems incorporate an external sight glass/ level control and heat exchangers. This design eliminates entering the process vessel during maintenance, thus enhancing the reliability of the system, reducing labor and chemical emissions, and operator/ chemical contact. CAST systems are controlled by programmable logic controllers using CPS designed software that is capable of detecting and reporting operating flaws, managing machine operation, executing emergency shut- down, and on- line telephone diagnostics. The systems are fully automatic and completely fail- safe in design. A standard automatic safety system is equipped with redundant controls that isolate the system from the environment, ancillary equipment, and personnel in the event of an uncontrolled shutdown. Rejection ratios of 99.999% can be obtained by CAST systems.

Distilled Water

Environmental Compliance has developed the ESP systems with automation simplicity and cost considerations as the two top design characteristics.  The ESP systems are available in a variety of ``gallon per batch`` sizes to fit almost any application.  These units can also be ganged together to meet the in between needs.

ESP Systems

Each ESP system is controlled using the popular Allen Bradley ``micro logic`` PLC.  The ease in operating these units compared to other systems on the market can only be characterized as plain simple.  The investment in the technology is also much less than you will find.  Environmental Compliance also developed the ``FS Series`` of ``portable`` ``semi-automatic`` units for smaller operations where the need for waste water treatment is usually once a week or even once a month. Environmental Compliance utilizes only the best technology to get the job done right. These systems were voted ``Best Technology in 2000`` by CleanTech readers. Environmental Compliances encapsulation services and solutions include:

  • FS UNITS
  • 10 GPB
  • 250 GPB
  • 400 GPB
  • 600 GPB

Chromium Destruction System

ESP 600 is available with a chromium destruction system addition.  This equipment combination will first reduce Chrome6 to the trivalent form and transfer the solution to the ESP unit for further treatment through encapsulation, automatically.  The units communicate to determine the others conditions to provide a continuous operation with no cross contamination.  The chrome reduction system (CR1) can be a stand alone operation.  This combination is available on all ESP models.

Environmental Compliance places great importance on the role of ECE CLAYFLOC based products in wastewater treatment. Clay is a proven part of wastewater treatment. Typically, industrial wastewater may be contaminated with suspended solids, heavy metals, organic compounds and other potential pollutants. Various methods exist for removal of these contaminants, to include acidifying (to break oil emulsions) precipitating heavy metals, adding primary coagulants, coagulant aids, settling, filtration etc. In general, a series of steps is necessary, requiring the addition of various chemicals to several mixing tanks and equipment. The resulting sludge produced, depending upon the initial contaminants, may be classified as hazardous, entailing high disposal costs.

ECE Clayfloc lines of products are highly efficient wastewater treatment formulations that are designed to be mixed in a dry state directly to a contaminated industrial wastewater. The products are dry powders comprising a blend of sodium montrmorillonite clay, pH adjusting items and polymers (polyelectrolytes). The various ingredients act in a sequential fashion to break oil and water emulsions, precipitate heavy metals as hydroxides, promote flocculation, agglomeration and suspended solids removal. ECE Clayfloc formulations are directly applied to a waste stream; clay particles flocculate, removing certain cationic metal contaminants from solution.

In the few thousand years that followed, the noncrystalline material organized itself into very small crystalline units that in time developed into a waxy claylike substance. Eventually a massive uplift of the seafloor occurred, forming what we know today as the Bighorn Mountains. As a result of millions of years of erosion, the bentonite deposits have outcropped on the surface and are recognized as narrow, light colored bands running parallel to the mountains. This unique product of nature`s forces called bentonite can be classified as sodium based montmorillonite clay. Nowhere else but in the confines of North West U.S. is this clay mineral found in such quantity and with such consistent properties. Bentonite structurally is made up of billions of tiny plate-like particles, each averaging less than 1 micron in size (1 micron is about 1/25,000 inch) These particles are staked or layered one upon the other, much like sheets of paper in a tablet. If one could separate platelet from its neighbor and place them side by side, approximately one handful of bentonite (or one cubic inch) would more than completely cover a half acre of land.

Bentonite`s unique molecular structure, which allows it to absorb nearly five times its weight in water and swell to a volume of 12 to 16 times its dry bulk are very significant factors to consider when we begin to assess its applications for industrial wastewater. As mentioned earlier, clays, and bentonite in particular, are hydrous aluminum silicates. The bentonites are composed of three layers of silicates compressed into a microscopic sized plate sandwich. Despite their small size however, the platelets have a relatively large surface area. The edges of the bentonite platelets are positively charged and the flat surface areas of the platelets are negatively charged. Because of their small size, electrostatic charges control the bentonite platelet behavior, and they are strongly attracted or repelled by each other and various other substances as well.

Recent cost analysis has shown that by using ECE Clayfloc clay-based products for wastewater treatment, users could expect to save 80-90% over conventional waste transport and disposal costs, making this alternative not only efficient, but also cost effective. Many variables are to be considered when weighing options for wastewater treatment such as volumes of water to be treated, waste constituents, and equipment necessities. However, clay-based products have proven to be a viable alternative to wastewater treatment.

Environmental Compliance is the know leader in wash water recycling systems.

Wash Water Recycling

Environmental Compliance has over 14 years experience in designing, implementing and supporting all facets of wash water recycling applications.  From initial design considerations ECE will supply properly designed wash water recycling to provide the best quality wash water while ensuring ease of use and maintenance.  ECE also ensure your operators are properly and completely trained on the entire wash water process from washing to water filtration.  ECE takes pride in service after the sale where we believe is where the relationship starts.

Washing heavy equipment generates large volumes of solids, water and hydrocarbons in a continuous operation. A properly designed wash rack will incorporate an effective wash pad that will remove the large volume of solids and manage them from getting into the recycle system and separate them for removal. The next phase of the system will incorporate technology to remove the hydrocarbons and separate them for removal, and finally, a properly designed system will polish the recycled water for safe re- use. Environmental Compliance and ECE will provide these essential services to meet your heavy equipment wash rack needs. Wash water recycling can be effective and easy to do as long as the design functions well with your needs.

Golf Maintenance Wash Rack Recycling

An important step in maintaining turf maintenance equipment is to wash the equipment after each use to remove cut grass and dirt. The next important step is to ensure the wash water is not discharged illegally to ground or sewer. The best way to protect your assets (your equipment and your land) is to recycle the wash water using the most reliable system on the market today. The Environmental Compliance WashMaster line of recycling systems are designed specifically for golf course operations. Utilizing proven technologies to provide the safest wash water recycling.

Portable Wash Pads

Many companies wanting to install wash racks look for alternatives to the construction of the wash pad itself.  The effort involved with planning, permitting, and construction take time, effort and expense somewhat more than the company wishes to commit.  Alternatives to the permanent pad are ones constructed of metal.  These wash pads, although versatile, have inherent issues that make them difficult to work with.  This would include the labor to clean the areas below the grating which will often go un-attended generating a solids build up issue within the filtration system.  The height of the wash rack is necessary to collect the solids from the pad and to necessitate structural strength.  The height can lead to issues with entering and exiting the pad.  The wear and tear on the metal pad with some of the equipment washed will reduce the life span of the metal style pads.

Environmental Compliance equipment has developed a new portable pad that combines the portability feature with the strength of a concrete pad.  This system includes sectional components that are shipped to your site and after the sections are assembled they are filled with concrete and finished to perform just like a permanent concrete pad.

The Bactogen 400 is a fully automated bio digestion system which is engineered to effectively reduce solids, BOD, COD, and a wide range of organic materials such as oil, grease, food, paper and grass, etc.

The Bactogen 400- Bio Digestion System

The Bactogen 400 is a fully automatic mechanical and enzyme dispensing/bio digestion system that has been designed to aid in the digestion of solids and organics in wastewater.  It works by exponentially speeding up the bacteria, which also produce large volumes of enzymes.

The product is applied as an instant active product through the Bactogen 400.  ECE enzyme formulas are designed as a blend of anaerobic and aerobic enzyme producing bacteria that work in a broad spectrum of wastewater environments (broad range of ph) providing the best results of bio digestion.

The Bactogen 400 utilizes a patent pending mixing technology to maximize air, biological and enzyme transfer and maximizing bacterial activity by at least one log plus (10 to 100 times).  This increase in enzyme production reduces bio digestion time and disposal costs.  Current methods of pumping grease traps and waste holding tanks are odor causing, costly, time consuming, and often times a health hazard.  Tighter environmental regulations are restricting disposal options and increasing disposal coasts.

The Bactogen 400 is 100% natural and both environmentally and physically safe method of treating waste on-site in their existing holding tanks or system.

Waste is pumped into the Bactogen 400; Bacteria are introduced to the food source in the presence of water and air.  The solution is intimately mixed through a patent pending system.  This mixing is an ideal bacterial atmosphere, which results in an elevation of microbe metabolic and reproduction rate, resulting in an exponential increase in bacteria population.  As the food source becomes depleted, the bacteria become hungry and the solution is returned to the waste holding tank.  The hungry bacteria attach themselves to waste particles and immediately begin to break them down into carbon dioxide and water. Adding an Environmental Compliance Equipment photo catalytic oxidation (PCO) unit to the bio digester can provide a water reuse system.
