Skim-pak skimmers are designed for reliable performance in almost any size or shape of industrial process containment tank, above or below grade, closed, floating or open top; new or retrofit. The dependable, uncomplicated system removes floating product from liquid surfaces with virtually no maintenance or monitoring. With 25 years of experience we posses the knowledge and capacity to design and build economical, efficient and reliable systems. Douglas Environmental also will design and build systems for unique environments including specific weir configurations to control the laminar flow and velocity.Douglas Environmental's in-tank skimmer systems are designed to handle the specific requirements of industrial process water with these important advantages. Reliable Operation-works consistently and reliably for years. No reoccurring costs and long down times. Surface Attraction- skim-paks attract the surface recovering the oil from the entire tank surface. Automatic Operation- Optional control systems virtually eliminate operator monitoring. Versatile Deployment-Swiveled Swing Arm, Flexible Hose and Telescoping Piping Options allow the skimmer systems to be application specific. Rugged Construction- System components are made of stainless steel, aluminum or ABS Plastic for maximum reliability and long service life in the harshest closed top tank environments. Complete, One-Source Systems Packages – Application-matched pumps separators and other accessories are available direct from Douglas Engineering.

Spill Response
Our floating skimmers function like a vacuum cleaner to effectively suck the oil scum off the surface off the water into the skimmer sump. In contrast, rope, disk, drum and other rotating skimmer systems function like mops spreading the footprint of the spill as oil is collected. The advantages of the Douglas Environmental systems have made our floating weirs a mainstay in the emergency response community over the past 25 years.Douglas Environmental skim-pak systems provide the greatest recovery option available. Floating weir means easier operation during spill response and less maintenance cost between jobs. Furthermore the lightweight high visibility plastic floating weir design means easy transportation and operation during spill response. The simple engineering design means no maintenance costs in storage and reliable operation during clean up.skim-pakweir type skimmers are simply the best skimmer money can buy. skim-paks are lightweight and compact, constructed of ABS plastic, easily deployed and operated by one person, and the inlet weir automatically adjusts to the pumping rate continually maintaining a skim. Skim-pak can be set up with the intake hose attached directly to the skimmer head for unattended operation or fitted with an operator control accessory package so the operator can set the skimmer weir for optimum collection rate.** Skimmer and most accessories available in Stainless Steel. Flow Control Weir models clean oils, foams and other floating materials from water services. These non-selective, high volume skimmers will attract the liquid surface from a 360° radius for complete product removal. The flow control weir skimmer is a versatile water management tool. The flow control design supports weir configurations which can produce customs skims for problem materials. At the entrance to the skimmer sump, a floating weir creates a small waterfall produces the skimming effect. The weir adjusts itself to the proper depth for the flow of the pump. The weir can be set by controlling the volume of the pump makes the skim-pak extremely effective and simple to operate and can be connected to a variety of pump types or can be gravity drained.Fixed Weir skimmers remove surface product only without disturbing underlying liquid. Oil accumulations of any quality are continually removed. Oil from a closed tank does not have to be a guessing game; the skim-pak floats on the liquid surface removing oil that has accumulated. The fixed weir skim-pak works on the principal of specific gravity. The skim-pak floats at the water level through out the changing tank levels. As oil accumulates, it will fall into the sump. As the sump fills with oil the weight of the skim-pak increases and lowers the skimmer, causing more oil to evacuate. The skimmer will continually remove oil accumulation above a predetermined cap of oil and it will never recover underlying water. Click to view our Industrial Application Worksheet

The skim-pak Floating weir Decanter. The decanter and swing arm follow the surface of the tank when the sump of the decanter is evacuated by pumping or gravity flow an equal amount of product comes into the unit over the flow controlled weirs. A scum barrier blocks the entry of the liquid surface allowing only supernate to be recovered. If the surface is desired product then the scum barrier is removed and the skim-pak operates as a skimmer. The rate of decant is set to match the rate of separation in sequential batch reactors or settling tanks. Normally a maximum flow of 2.8 cubic meters per meter of weir is desired rate of decanting. The weir and therefore the decanter is size to reach the required decant rate for the specific tank. Douglas Environmental's positive closure engages when the decanter is at rest minimizing leakage into the decanter sump. A gentle back-flush eliminates the withdrawal need to remove the decanter from the liquid while in filling or aeration cycle. The use of a floating, self-adjusting weir provides a consistent rate of water withdrawal allowing for the most amount of water without disturbing the scum or sludge layers. Clean according to regular tank maintenance schedule. No Additional maintenance required. Douglas Environmental Decanter Heads come in a variety of sizes to suite decanting needs and specifications.
