The fact is that even thin layers of scale greatly increase fuel costs, which is only one of the reasons that effective water treatment is so essential in boiler systems. Correctly operating the pretreatment equipment will minimize the level of impurities entering the boiler with the makeup water. Good blowdown control along with proper application of the treatment chemicals will help keep any impurities that do enter the system from adhering to the boiler surfaces until they are removed through blowdown. Each aspect of the boiler water treatment program is important and must not be overlooked.
