UV Systems
Ultraviolet Light (UV) is an effective germicidal agent. At the proper level of intensity, UV light is fatal to all micro-organisms known to inhabit water. If it does not kill the organism it will render it non-viable and harmless to humans.
A UV system is usually used in conjunction with a pre-filter system to ensure that the source water is of sufficient clarity. It can be added to a Reverse Osmosis system if bacterial (bug) growth is a concern.
While UV irradiation is not suitable for all applications it is very effective in water treatment for aquariums, commercial closed-looped systems, fish hatcheries, commercial fish farms and municipal systems (when used in conjunction with chlorination).
Range of UV systems includes:
- Open Channel Ultraviolet Systems
- Pressure Ultraviolet Systems
Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems
Reverse Osmosis (RO) is used to purify water and remove mineral and chemical contaminants from water. A RO system is usually used in conjunction with pre-filters. RO systems are sterilized periodically during the cleaning process. If bacteria (bug) growth is a concern then a UV Sterilization system can also be added.
Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems are available for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
Iron Removal and Manganese Removal Systems
We supply / manufacture units which will remove iron and/or manganese, from household to small municipal systems.
Iron and manganese are minerals found in drinking water supplies. These minerals will not harm you, but they may be objectionable due to taste, odor and turbidity problems in water. They can also cause reddish-brown or black stains on clothes or household fixtures. Health Canada sets the aesthetic objective for manganese in drinking water at =0.02 mg/L and iron at =0.3 mg/L.
Iron and Manganese can be removed from water by using a media that encourages reaction between the contaminant and oxygen present in water. This reaction forms an insoluble precipitate which can then be physically filtered out by the media bed. The media acts "catalytically", which means that although it triggers the reaction it is not used up as part of the process, thus giving long life from a single filter.
Choosing the best treatment for iron or manganese removal depends not only on the form of the iron or manganese present, but also on how much of the contaminant is present, the hardness of the water, temperature variations, and the water's pH (acidity or alkalinity) level. A choice of media are available, depending upon the chemical makeup of the water, a thorough water analysis is required before a suitable solution can be offered.
Chlorination Systems: PPG/BIP Chlorination Unit for Potable/Industrial Water Treatment
PPG Industries, a world leader in safe, simple and accurate chlorination systems, introduces a chlorination unit incorporating the Accu-Tab chlorinator and tablets. Unit manufactured by BI Pure Water (Canada) Inc. This unique combination provides a better chlorination system than gas or bleach for industrial and municipal installations. With its compact size, installation is easy. Pressure injection or Gravity feed chlorinator systems available.
Commercial Pool Chlorination Systems
Tablet Chlorination System for Aquatic Centers, Waterparks and Commercial Pools.
Accu-Tab chlorinators are built for high chlorine delivery rates in high volume applications, up to millions of gallons.
Water is the only moving part in Accu-Tab chlorinators. Setting the water flow rate determines the chlorine delivery rate.
Chlorinators are available in three sizes as well as in PowerPac units.
PPG Accu-Tab Tablets (Calcium Hypochlorite)
PPG calcium hypochlorite is a dry form of chlorine that is efficient and easy to use. In solution with water, it is used as a general disinfectant to destroy bacteria, algae, slime, fungi and other microorganisms.
Calcium hypochlorite is used primarily to chlorinate swimming pools, and to disinfect drinking water supplies and sewage systems. It is also used as a sanitizer in a number of food processing, commercial, institutional, and domestic applications.
