Editorial

It is estimated that, within 25 years, two-thirds of the world`s inhabitants will live in countries with serious water problems. Global changes will affect water availability.

With a mission to manage, develop, and protect water and related resources, the United States Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation has a massive job on its hands. New technology and research are constantly changing the possibilities for water and desalination. The Bureau has adopted a strategy for supporting high risk research on major innovations, and developing a better understanding of environmental issues associated with ocean and inland desalination.
