Thomas E. Clevenger received the B.A. in Chemistry and Mathematics from Blackburn College, M.S. in Nuclear Chemistry and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Clevenger has over 30 years of experience working in the environmental field and is currently Director of the Missouri Water Resources Research Center and Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia. His research activities have been quite diverse, ranging from studies of lead mining, dioxins in soil, to current work on emerging drinking water issues. In 1991 he received the Willem Rudolf’s Medal for outstanding industrial research on his work on the safety and efficacy of food processing wastes. In addition to the above responsibilities, Dr. Clevenger currently is in charge of the Missouri Technology Assistance Center for small drinking water systems funded through the Environmental Protection Agency. This center evaluates new technologies, such as UV, that might have applications for the treatment of water.
