Under this project we hope to pump water from a natural Lake into an already built Storage Tank from which the pumped water is expected to be distributed through water pipes to the beneficiaries.

A short description of the selected right holders.

This project mainly focuses its attention on the war affected people who are experiencing serious difficulties due to lack of Water & Latrine facilities, the Basic Human needs in the above mentioned project location. Under this project we hope to provide Safe Drinking Water to 600 war affected families in 03 remote villages through a Well Established Water Supply System.

The communities living here suffered many setbacks due to War during the past 20 years or more. Since the families earn their living through daily labourer, most of their children do not continue the school education. They get drop out early from schools and go to work to support their parents’ income. Most of the school children have been enjoying the income from Tourist Hotels in Arugambay which is close to the proposed project location and also known as the most beautiful Tourist Beach in Sri Lanka. Therefore they have been seriously vulnerable to sexual harassment and sexploitations. This has tremendous draw back to the family because the young children get used to liquor, smoking and drugs during their young ages.

In the proposed areas 99/% of the families have been engaged in animal husbandry and paddy cultivation. Most of the War Affected families are still suffering with lack of income potential due to the lack of basic capital.

Without a permanent way to earn a livelihood, the people have been economically unsatisfied and socially crippled.
