Rilsan® coatings have been used for water transportation equipments and water treatment plants since 1970. They combine thermal stability, physical durability, chemical resistance and mechanical integrity in a coating material that stands up to almost anything.
Durable and Strong
Water Supply Systems coated with Rilsan® Fine Powder enable metal parts to withstand years of intense use without altering the drinking water quality. Dirty water and effluent pipes used in aggressive environments have also been protected by Rilsan® Fine Powder coatings. The brand offers significant advantages over rigid thermoset counterparts such as FBE (Fusion Bonded Epoxy) resins.
Rilsan® Fine Powder coatings are virtually impervious to extreme pressures, chemicals and temperatures. They provide high dimensional stability, good resistance to stress cracking, low moisture absorption and have a low coefficient of friction which avoids abrasion.
Easy Application Techniques
Unlike thermosetting resins, Rilsan® is a fully polymerized thermoplastic, and as such requires no curing. It is available as ready-to-use powders with unlimited shelf-life. They have a sharp melting point which fuses the entire coat at once, giving products a uniform, glossy finish. This gives Rilsan® Fine Powders a Cost Performance Ratio that is tough to beat.
The diverse Rilsan® coatings provide optimum protection for all types of components used in water installations:
- Coating in fluidised powder bed
- Powder application on heated components
- Electrostatic spray on cold components
- Minicoat process on small components
- Rotocoating
Regulatory approvals
Rilsan® is a world class product that meets various international regulatory requirements.
The application of Rilsan® coatings on pipes and fittings in the water sector has been approved by two French standards, NFA 49-713 and NFA 49-714, and an American standard AWWAC224-01 which defines application parameters for the two-layer system. Rilsan® is certified in the following countries:
- France (Circular DGS/VS4/N°99.217)
- United Kingdom (WRAS and DWI certification)
- Netherlands (ATA certification)
- Belgium (NBN S 29-001 standard)
