IQ Electric Valve Actuators

Scotch Yoke Actuators

Scotch Yoke Actuators are designed to operate ball, butterfly, plug and other valves which require a quarter-turn movement for either on/off or throttling service. This classic, compact design is available in the SP Range for low torque applications and in the GP, GH Series; P, and H Range whenever high torque levels are required. The standard symmetrical design is used for all Scotch Yoke actuators; the more powerful canted version can also be specified for GP and GH series models.

GP/GH Range

GP (pneumatic) and GH (hydraulic) Range scotch yoke actuators are designed to provide a rotary, quarter-turn movement for either on/off or modulating duty. The rugged yet compact design is available with two different yoke designs. The classic symmetrical yoke delivers peak torque at both ends of stroke. Alternatively, they can be supplied with canted torque arms designed to deliver peak torque at only one end of stroke. Use of canted arms can often reduce actuator size, weight and cost for valves with appropriate torque demand characteristics.

GP and GH Range actuators share a modular construction. The centre body is available in ten sizes producing output torque up to 600,000 Nm (5.3 million inch pounds). A pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder can be attached to either or both sides. A spring canister can also be fitted to either side.

CP Range

CP Range actuators are of a versatile, modular, scotch yoke design available in four body sizes, in both double acting and spring return configurations with output torque up to 3,500 Nm (30,000 inch pounds). The compact and efficient design yields surprisingly high torques even at low pressures. The design concepts found in Rotork`s large, heavy-duty actuators have been applied to the CP Range, which brings heavy-duty actuator qualities to small, quarter turn actuators.

A single piston rod supported on both sides of the yoke by PTFE impregnated bronze bushings eliminates the misalignment, friction and wear inherent in some other small actuator designs. The actuator body is of rugged cast iron. Cylinders are manufactured from carbon steel, electroless nickel-plated for corrosion resistance and low piston seal friction.

P/H Range

P (pneumatic) and H (hydraulic) Range scotch yoke actuators are designed to provide a rotary, quarter-turn movement for either on/off or modulating duty. P Range actuators have operating pressures up to17 bar (250 psi). H Range actuators have operating pressures up to 210 bar (3,000 psi).

P and H Range actuators share a modular construction. The ductile iron centre body is available in two sizes producing output torque up to 5,400 Nm (48,000 inch pounds). A pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder can be attached to either or both sides. A spring canister can also be fitted to either side.

Rack and Pinion Actuators

Rack and Pinion Actuators are designed to operate ball, butterfly, plug and other valves, which require a quarter-turn movement for either on/off or throttling service offering the most economical solution when valve torque requirements are more or less constant throughout the stroke. They are available in three main types - the RP, RH Series; and R Range.

RP/RH Range

RP (pneumatic) and RH (hydraulic) Range rack and pinion actuators are designed to provide a rotary, quarter-turn movement for either on/off or modulating duty. They are particularly well suited for applications where the valve torque demand is relatively uniform throughout the stroke.

Five body sizes produce torque output up to 3,500 Nm (30,000 inch pounds) at operating pressures up to 12 bar (174psi) for RP and 230 bar (3,300 psi) for RH. They are available in either double acting or spring return configurations.

R Range

Rotork R Range rack and pinion actuators satisfy a wide range of industrial and process applications. They feature a durable, compact twin rack design and are pre-lubricated for life.

The range is manufactured in eleven different body sizes providing up to 4,200 Nm (36,600 inch pounds) of torque at a maximum operating pressure of 8 bar (116 psi) and is available in both double acting and spring return configurations. They provide 90° of rotation with a constant torque output throughout the stroke.

Linear Actuators

Rotork linear actuators offer the advantages of compact size, high performance and a simple but highly reliable design, and are ideal for operating on/off and control functions of both globe and wedge gate valves. Both LP Series (pneumatic) and LH Series (hydraulic) are available.

LP/LH Range

LP (pneumatic) and LH (hydraulic) Range linear actuators are designed to operate gate and globe valves of all sizes. Our proven design and engineering expertise has developed a product suitable for the harshest of environments. Double acting and spring return configurations are available. Pneumatic thrusts to 1.8 million N (404,000 lbs) at 12 bar (175 psi). Hydraulic thrusts to 5.5 million N (89,900 lbs) at 250 bar (3,600 psi).

Actuating linear operating valves requires the actuator be specifically sized foe each application. Rotork Fluid System Centres of Excellence will guide you in properly determining and meeting your linear actuator needs.

Gas Industry Actuators

HPG (quarter-turn)/HPL (linear) High Pressure Gas, GO (quarter-turn)/GOL (linear) Gas-Oil Range

The most desirable source of motive power for gas industry applications is often the pipeline gas itself. Rotork Fluid System produces a family of products designed to be powered by pipeline gas with either oil pressurisation or direct gas methods.

The prime movers in this family of pipeline gas driven actuators are the proven GH (quarter-turn) and LH (linear) actuators with an expanded range of cylinder sizes to cater to the relatively low pressures found in gas pipelines.

Electro-Hydraulic Actuators

The Rotork Fluid System EH Range of self-contained, electro-hydraulic actuators include an integrated control module; a hydraulic manifold; and a power unit consisting of a motor, hydraulic pump and reservoir. EH actuators are available in double-acting or spring-return, fail-safe configurations for both quarter-turn and linear applications. They can be configured to mount in any position, including remote mounting of the control module. Torque requirements up to 600,000 Nm (5.3 million in lbs) and thrusts up to 5,500,000 N (1,236,500 lbs) can be accommodated. All electronics are protected in a watertight or explosion-proof enclosure.
