Disposal of wastewater effluent is often the most expensive part of a manufacturing process, amounting to over 50% of operational costs. For example, the metal galvanizing, semiconductor manufacture and precious metal mining create significant amounts of wastewater which contain dangerous heavy metals that require highly secure permanent storage over extended periods.
P2W has developed a line of innovative patented systems designed to remove heavy metals including cyanide, copper, zinc, chromium, cadmium, and nickel from manufacturing discharge waters without chemicals that enable a factory to reuse the water they employ in manufacturing. The P2W process all but eliminates sludge, while dramatically reducing the amount of water required for a manufacturing process.
P2W has developed a comprehensive cluster of patented technologies to address some of the most significant challenges for wastewater treatment worldwide. Established in 2005 following five years of research, P2W has installed its first generation technology in over 19 sites in Israel with a team of 13 employees. In order to address the global market opportunity and complete its next generation of technology, the company is seeking an investment.
Market Potential
The company’s current marketing efforts have focused upon Israel, where water scarcity has brought the country to lead the world in water reuse. While governments worldwide see water scarcity as an emerging issue of critical importance, water reuse is only beginning to be a priority. Given the low level of water reuse, the industrial market for water recycling and reuse equipment in Europe and the Middle East earned annual revenues of $279M over the three-year period from 2003 to 2005. Before considering the dramatic increase in overall water reuse that experts are predicting as a result of water scarcity, annual growth is estimated at about 7%. The European and Middle Eastern market has the potential to earn $531M from 2012-2014, according to Frost & Sullivan.
P2W will focus its initial worldwide marketing efforts on three industries whose processes generate some of the most toxic and highly regulated waste water that have a limited number of strong players—precious metal mining, semiconductor manufacture and electroplating. With a strong presence at key customers in these industries, P2W will be able to address the more competitive general market for water reuse in manufacturing worldwide.
Landmark Innovation—Underlying P2W Technologies
P2W heavy metal removal systems are based on electro coagulation (EC). EC technology offers an alternative to the use of metal salts or polymers and polyelectrolyte addition for breaking stable emulsions and suspensions. The technology removes metals, colloidal solids and particles, and soluble inorganic pollutants from aqueous media by introducing highly charged polymeric metal hydroxide species.
The P2WC system eliminates cyanide using a different set of processes. P2W technology destroys cyanide through an oxidation process. The P2WC exposes the effluent of polluted cyanide emulsion to a electric field that liberates nascent ozone, nascent chlorine and their respective hydroxyl radicals, thereby converting the cyanide to carbon dioxide and nitrogen.
Bottom-line Benefits for Today and for the Future
-
Dramatic cost savings—P2W’s current customers have reduced overall operations costs by up to 90% by virtually eliminating sludge and reusing rather disposing of wastewater
-
Reduced risk in regulatory compliance—Regulatory requirements for the quality and safety of waste water treatment continue to grow. Elimination of chemicals in this process and the dramatic reduction in disposal reduce the dimension of future risk for new regulation.
-
Improved efficiency—P2W treats wastewater as a part of a single continuous process that does not interrupt the overall manufacturing process.
