Ultrafiltration Technology for the Treatment of Drinking Water, Industrial and Wastewater, Removal of Bacteria, Viruses and Microorganisms from Water

inge AG´s goal is to preserve the valuable water resources of today’s world. With our new, innovative concepts we guarantee our customers and end users an ongoing provision of pure water.

Using our patented Multibore® membrane and dizzer® modules, companies like water works, industrial enterprises, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and engineering companies (A&Es) will be able to plan and construct advanced and environmentally friendly water treatment plants.

Profile

inge AG is developing innovative ultrafiltration technology for the treatment of drinking, industrial and waste water. Our technology reliably removes bacteria, viruses and microorganisms from water. In order to adhere to the technological high standard, we also invest in research and development intensively.

Our claim is to set new standards in the field of ultrafiltration thus developing convincing solutions and safest applications.

The guarantee of constantly high quality is a challenge which we are willing to face every day – for satisfied customers – today as well as in the future.

Technology

Ultrafiltration

Ultrafiltration is a filter technology that removes suspended or dissolved solids, which have different molecular weights and sizes, respectively, from water or other liquids. This process is easy to realize and, more importantly, without extensive chemical additives and with very low energy usage.

Ultrafiltration – or UF – has gained steadily increasing importance for the treatment of surface water over the last years.

UF systems are used in the following applications:

  • Treatment of surface, ground and well water into drinking water and process water
  • Treatment of waste water into "grey" or process water
  • Pre-treatment for desalination plants

Functionality

Ultrafiltration installations are designed and constructed as automatic operations. The control program adjusts the different operation modes of the ultrafiltration process:

  • Filtration
  • Cleaning + Backwash

The Dead-End mode is the most economical filtration as it requires far less energy than the Cross-Flow mode. Filtration cycles vary between 30 and 120 minutes depending on the degree of the water’s impurity.

In order to avoid clogging of the membranes, a backwash sequence is necessary at periodic intervals. The Backwash sequence forces the filtrate in "reverse direction” through the membrane to loosen and rinse off sediment build-up.

A Forward Flush, in which raw water passes through the capillaries at a higher speed, optimizes the cleansing performance. Conducted shortly before and directly after a Backwash, this process thoroughly removes particles from the membrane surface and rinses the substances from the re-circulation cycle.

Optional remote monitoring enables the continuous control of the system’s functions.

Membrane

Uncompromised integrity

This trait characterizes our membranes and the revolutionary technology that produces them. The result – and your benefit – is a secure barrier against microorganisms in water.

No fiber breakage

The patented "Multibore" structure of the inge AG membrane combines seven single capillaries into one resistant structure. This construction significantly improves the stability of the membrane and eliminates fiber breakage.

Guaranteed free from bacteria

The uniform pore structure of the membrane builds an impenetrable barrier for all bacteria and other microorganisms. Multibore ultrafiltration provides bacteria-free water, without the use of added chemicals.

Significant savings on investment and operation

Implemented as pre-treatment for further treatment processes (e.g. reverse osmosis), the Multibore membrane removes particles and turbidity to deliver a high quality filtrate with an SDI <3.

Modules

"Intelligent module concepts” – describes the construction and development of our dizzer-modules. The construction is based on several years of experience in the development, production and operation of membranes and membrane modules, which are designed to optimize flow and pressure distribution to yield a constant high filtration performance.

The latest standard: vertical mounting

The vertical installation saves space and is very manageable. Furthermore, because the dizzer’s vertical system eliminates the need for pressure vessels, thereby leading to substantial savings on investment costs.

Flexible operation modes

In addition to the conventional and economical Dead-End mode, filtration with dizzer modules can combat a high level of impurity by filtering in the Cross-Flow mode. System cleaning is accomplished by a traditional Backwash as well as by an effective Forward Flush.

Benefits

  • Construction complies with latest development in hydro dynamical research
  • Vertical mounting conserves space and improves manageability
  • Filtration in dead-end or cross-flow modes
  • Cleaning accomplished with backwash and/or forward flush
  • Technology results in operating cost savings of up to 20%
  • System saves up to 30% of investment costs compared with pressure vessel technology

Approvals

Our service capabiltiy and product efficiency is officially certified: our products carry the necessary market approvals in our core markets USA, Europe and China and comply with the current regulations in the field of drinking water treatment.

With complex, cost-intensive tests and methods, independent institutes test our membranes and modules with regards to virus rejection and innoxiousness to the physical health. By carrying these approvals we are able to offer highest possible protection and best reliability to our customers once they have decided to choose our technology.

The products of inge AG carry the following approvals:

  • KTW–Empfehlung (Germany, TZW Karlsruhe) des
  • DVGW (Deutscher Verein des Gas- und Wasserfaches)
  • NSF 61 Approval (USA)
  • C-DHS
  • Beijing Health Department (China)
