Effluent Wastewater Treatment

Wastewater and Industrial Effluent Treatment Applications

GPC Associates Ltd primary coagulants and flocculants are used in a wide variety of industries in many effluent treatment applications.

  • DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) is used extensively in many industries e.g. the food industry, meat industry and road tanker washing.
  • A primary coagulant is generally used to de-stabilize any colloidal material in the wastewater which is then flocculated with a polymer.
  • Sludge De-Watering: The resulting sludge is skimmed off the water`s surface and either goes for further de-watering or can be tankered away.
  • Clarification - e.g. Paper industry, sand and gravel, vegetable washing and processing.
  • The clean water from clarification is often recycled back to be used as primary wash water in many applications.

GPC Associate Ltd products are used to increase the settlement of the solids helping the effluent plant keep up with the manufacturing process and to give a clean supernatant.

  • Sludge de-watering - Many industrial sludges are thickened before disposal, usually by either belt press, centrifuge or plate and frame press.
  • GPC Associate Ltd high molecular weight flocculants can greatly increase the efficiency of all these processes.
  • The use of an organic primary coagulant in conjunction with a flocculant can greatly enhance the results given on a belt press, centrifuge or plate and frame press

Equipment: GPC Associates Ltd can provide:

  • Emulsion polymer make up unitss
  • Powder polymer make up units
  • Chemical metering pumps
  • Process control equipment

Foam Control

GPC Associates Ltd can offer a complete range of anti-foam products together with a unique foam control system

Foam can cause many problems within a process. It can cause a slip hazard by overflowing onto the floor. It can block filters, cause pumps to air lock and confuse instruments such as level sensors. GPC Associates Ltd can provide a complete range of anti-foam products that will deal with foam in any industrial application.

A common problem with foam is that it can be unpredictable. This often means overdosing with anti-foam products ``To be on the safe side``. GPC Associates Ltd can provide a completely automatic anti-foam dosing system.

This unique system detects the level of foam in a vessel and will only dose anti-foam when it is needed.

The sensor is designed to discriminate between the residual deposits of foam that build up on the sensor itself and the foam being created in the process. No matter how much the sensor becomes coated, it will continue measuring foam throughout the process cycle.

The Multi-Sense Probe

Multi-Sense Probe is an exciting new type of level sensor. The sensor can measure a range of variables at the same time including liquid level and foam level, operating correctly even when coated with sticky material. Unlike float type systems there are no moving parts and so nothing can get jammed. It is not upset by foam like ultrasonic sensors. With one sensor a whole range of measurements can be made and controlled at the same time.

This system is ideal for controlling foam in tanks which have a variable liquid level

GPC Associates Ltd gives maximum customer support, both in the laboratory and on site.

  • From laboratories in the North and South of England, GPC Associates Ltd is able to carry out full product surveys on water samples ensuring the best product selection from the range.
  • Laboratory simulations ensure that realistic dose rates are predicted for the application.
  • Regular on-site product optimization ensures that customers experience maximum benefits for lowest treatment cost.
