Global Water Intelligence, the leading source of market information for the international water industry, is hosting the 2005 Global Water Awards in order to highlight achievement in the international water sector.
The judging panel has now made its final decision on the Awards after assessing the voting by participants on this website. In most cases the judges` view and the voters` view coincided, although there were some instances where a very large number of votes were logged from the same corporate email address suffix and the popular vote was overruled by the panel. Where voting has been particularly close, the judges have decided to give one or two additional Highly Commended awards.
Each category winner will receive a crystal glass cube with a globe lasered into the centre, and inscribed with the relevant category and company name, a certificate, and graphic files, so that they can display the award logo on their website and use it in press releases or stationery. Significant suppliers, such as EPC contractors and professional advisors, can apply for this package in their name in exchange for a payment to cover additional costs. Those firms that achieved Highly Commended awards will receive a certificate of their achievement and the relevant graphic files
American Deal of the Year
Halifax Bay – Degrémont
In the first half of 2004, Degrémont announced that it had signed a C$133 million (US$107 million) wastewater treatment contract for Halifax Bay, Nova Scotia with the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM). The contract calls for the construction of three WwTPs: the Halifax plant (maximum wet weather throughput capacity 4m3/sec), the Dartmouth plant (maximum capacity of 2.58m3/sec), and the Herring Cove plant (maximum capacity of 0.88m3/sec). The three plants together will have a total throughput of 64,000m3/d and will treat wastewater and sludge using the same processing line. Construction of the three plants will be performed over a 47-month period by a consortium of Degrémont and Dexter, a Halifax-based Canadian construction company. HRM will operate the plants as well as the associated network.
