Biography

Gerald Ziegenbalg is lecturer and senior scientist at the Institute of Technical Chemistry. He is teaching chemical engineering as well as environmental chemistry. Mr. Ziegenbalg has more than 15 years of experience in dealing with crystallization / precipitation processes from oversaturated solutions. He has developed several technologies to seal soil formations and to prevent water inflows into mines. Mr. Ziegenbalg was the project leader in several large scale field tests and real scale applications for in-situ immobilization processes.

Mr. Ziegenbalg is working as project coordination in the EU funded project “Crystechsalin” which deals with the creation of barriers in coastal aquifers for the prevention of saline water intrusion
