ALEXANDRIA, VA - The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) today celebrates the beginning of National Clean Beaches Week, a program of the Clean Beaches Council.
IBWA is a sponsor of National Clean Beaches Week. Held June 29 through July 5, 2006, this week is a national celebration focusing public attention on the role of sustainable beaches in American life. Four themes of importance to beach goers will be highlighted during the week: a healthy environment, sustainable travel, clean recreation and fitness, and healthy food choices.
National Clean Beaches Week will culminate with The National Beach Cleanup in Santa Monica, California. Scheduled speakers include Jean-Michel Cousteau, Santa Monica Mayor Robert Holbrook, representatives of Keep California Beautiful, and members of the Clean Beaches Council.
IBWA proudly supports the mission of National Clean Beaches Week. As Americans flock to their local beaches to enjoy the summer, many will bring bottled water to stay refreshed and hydrated; IBWA encourages beachgoers to recycle all beverage containers, and other recyclables, to help keep America's beaches clean.
