Water Treatment Field Exam with Remote Testing Option for Individuals in Water Treatment and Technology

Commercial Water Treatment Field Exam

The CWT exam is the only legally defensible exam that represents the highest professional credential in the industrial and commercial water treatment field. Designed and tested by AWT, it provides professional recognition for individuals involved in water treatment and technology to indicate to the general public, co-workers, employers and others that an individual has achieved a certain level of experience, knowledge and education in the water treatment industry. The CWT designation assures that water professionals possess a core body of knowledge and have extensive professional experience in all aspects of water treatment.

Remote Testing Now an Option

Candidates are now able to select locations such as universities, community colleges or local testing centers to take the CWT exam. You may still take the exam during one of the three times it is administered by AWT (Annual Convention or one of the two Regional Training Seminars) but now have the option of taking it closer to home. For more information on this new feature, please contact Chip Kazmerowski at (800) 858 6683.

Certified Water Technologists (CWTs)
Click here to search a database of those individuals who have earned the CWT designation, a national certification distinguishing them as leaders in the field of industrial and commercial water treatment. These individuals have demonstrated their commitment to the field of water treatment by participating in this voluntary program designed to verify the appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities required by a water treatment professional.

Since 1995, AWT has provided testing and background requirement checks toward achievement of CWT (Certified Water Technologist) designation.  CWT is the first independent certification of its kind in the industrial and commercial water treatment field and requires extensive knowledge of and experience in all aspects of water treatment. The program continues today, with over 118 individuals having earned the certification and over 297 engaging in the process.
