Synopsis
There is an increasing interest and application of rainwater harvesting world-wide. But most of these efforts concentrate on rural communities with simple technology, while water supply, groundwater and drainage problems continue to rise in urban areas. The presentation shows the advantages of rainwater harvesting for cities, also keeping in mind the limitations. Trends for the future are explored, especially in the light of reaching the Millenium Development goals (halving the population without access to safe water and sanitation until 2015).

The lessons learned so far are drawn up at the end of the presentation.
