Any person, firm, agency, or corporation engaged or interested in desalination or the water reuse industry is eligible for the general membership of the association, subject to acceptance by the board. General membership is classified under three classes:
Organizations and Agencies (Class I): Governmental bodies, private organizations, agencies engaged or interested in the production, sale, distribution, regulation of water, or in desalination technology. Companies and organizations engaged or interested in research, design, production, sale, or distribution of goods and services related to the potential or actual production, distribution or consumption of desalted water, or in desalination technology.
Class I Members receive:
- Reduced conference registration price at the IDA World Congress
- Reduced prices on exhibition stands at IDA exhibitions
- Ability to reserve premium exhibition stands at the IDA World Congress
- Reduced prices at all Association activities including conferences, seminars and workshops
- 35% price reduction for additional IDA individual memberships
- Complimentary conference proceedings on IDA website
- Complimentary subscription to the International Desalination & Water Reuse Quarterly
- Complimentary Membership Directory
- Annual subscription to IDA News
- 30% price reduction on the 2002 Desalting Plants Inventory #17
- 35% price reduction on The Desalination Directory
- 200-word company description and logo published in the Membership Directory
Individuals (Class II): Individuals interested in the objectives and programs of the Association, or education, training, and/or research in any phase of the water sciences, or in desalination technology.
Libraries and Students (Class III): Libraries of research, academic, or public institutions. Library members may not vote, hold office, nor be counted as members for voting. Full-time students in colleges, universities, or training programs related to desalination, water resources, and/or the environment.
Class II and Class III members receive:

Obligations, Rights, And Privileges
The obligations, rights, and privileges of members of the three classes may differ and are set in the constitution and bylaws. General membership in Classes I and II or their designated representatives shall be entitled to one vote on each matter submitted to a vote of the members.
