Clean-iX Advances
Early forms of ion exchange technology suffered from cost constraints that made ion exchange technology only applicable to high value products or ultra-pure production. In these arenas, ion exchange technology delivers the cost / quality outcomes required.
The major drivers of the cost of the technology are the cost of resin and the cost of desorption reagents.
Clean TeQ has tackled these issues and provided solutions that open up ion exchange technology to the wider range of water and industrial applications.
The Clean TeQ solution is based on the use of a new process design, incorporating a counter-current moving bed approach.
The design allows:
- Reduction in resin inventory
- Provides for maximum resin loading capacity, optimised the use of desorption / regeneration agents
- Provides the ability to use cheaper desorption / regeneration reagents and
- Can be operated on “dirty” feed solutions
Clean-iX Operation
The Clean-iX process uses an up flow principle where the feed is pumped into the base of the sorption column and exits from the top. The ions are exchanged as the feed moves through the column. At regular intervals, loaded resin and accumulated particulate is removed from the bottom of the sorption column, washed and transported to the desorption column. In a similar manner, desorption solution is pumped into the base of the desorption column, stripping the resin and producing a concentrated solution. The regenerated resin is transferred from the bottom of the desorption column to the sorption column at regular intervals.
