Biography

Kerstin Schulze works at the Centre for Environmental Systems Research at the University of Kassel, Germany as a member of the research group “Global and Regional Dynamics”. She is a geo-ecologist by training. Her main research areas are global scale modelling of water availability and water use, global change impacts on water availability and use and the further development of the global scale WaterGAP Hydrological Model. She works on her doctoral dissertation about the climate change impact on flood events. Further she contributes to the international project “Millennium Ecosystem Assessment” where she is a member of the global modeling group.

Martina Floerke started her career in a consultancy office as a hydrogeologist for geohydraulics and 3D groundwater modelling. After her consultancy activities she began to engross her investigations in the field of geohydraulics and groundwater modelling and obtained her PhD in Engineering at the University of Kassel with the thesis of “Determination of Effective Hydraulic Parameters in Heterogeneous Porous Media”. Since two years Martina Floerke is a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Environmental Systems Research at the University of Kassel. She works in several projects, e.g. the World Water Assessment Programme or the Dialogue on Water and Climate, using the global water model WaterGAP. Her research interests are in the field of water science especially in the integrated assessment of current and future conditions of water resources and water demand on a global scale.
